The PAT Community Service Committee thanks everyone who came and contributed to Family Day of Service, on Saturday, April 14. The estimated 75 members of our community who gathered in the cafeteria were amazingly productive. The brightly painted planters of pansies that now adorn either side of the school’s entrance are one result of the event, but we did many other things as well, such as:

• Used materials with different textures—such as dried beans, rubber boot scraps, and acrylic fluff and dish scrubbers—to create more than 50 tactile panels, for the Helen Keller Services for the Blind (HKSB) preschool program at 57 Willoughby Street.

• Painted pots that will be given to the first graders who will plant pansies in them and bring them to Cobble Hill Health Center.

• Planted an herb garden for the seniors at Helen Keller Services for the Blind.

• Knitted and crocheted blankets for babies hospitalized with AIDS and other serious conditions.

• Decorated dozens of Mother's Day and Happy Spring cards for homebound seniors.

• Gave geranium plants (in pots we painted) to the maintenance, security, cafeteria and administrative support staff, to say thank you for helping to make BFS such a wonderful place.

• Helped to clean up Cadman Plaza, in conjunction with Partnership for Parks.

• Created garlands of paper butterflies, to decorate one of our neighboring senior centers.

• Assembled scores of Eco-Packets of environmental information, which we distributed to people we encountered on our Ecology Parade around the Farmer's Market in Cadman Plaza, and to BFS Faculty and Staff.

Special thanks to the volunteers who helped staff Family Day of Service: Joanne Casey, Stacey Goldman-Laughter, Keri and Brian Barton, Miriam Laufer, Sonya Farrell, Ellen Conroy, Sadie Horton, Jennifer Epelbaum, Lee Wade and Tad Hills, Kate Fitzgerald, Trente and Lou Marino, Carl Levine, Sharon Carew, Tracy Tullis, Michael Landy and Shellee Colen, Judy Cohn, Atea Martin and Allen Honigman, Elise Kaufman, Amit Bose, Jenia Dorticos, Ruth McQuiggan, Macon Jessup, Rachel Axinn, Wynne Noble, Nickie and Paul Menefee. For their behind-the-scenes support, we thank Janet Villas, Marie-Christine Perry and Joan Martin. Additional thanks to the BFS maintenance staff for helping us every step of the way and to the cooking crew for their support!
