If you plan to attend Breakfast at the Prospect Park Carousel today, we want you to know that carousel rides will not be available, but we will have a magician and upper school student volunteers leading activities for the children. We were just informed that the carousel must be closed for emergency maintenance.

A Joyful Finale to a BFS Musical Legacy |

The April 22 Dinosaurs, Dolphins and Friends Concert marked Sara and Tony Soll's 25th and final year hosting an afternoon of song, friendship and smiles for children. While free of charge this year as a gift from Sara and Tony, the event still raised $1,500 in donations for green initiatives at BFS.

Congratulations to 4th graders Finn and Coby – winners of the PS 116 Tournament's Novice II Team Chess Award. Both avid sports fans, the students say chess requires the same skills as athletic play: prowess, skill, determination, and plenty of practice.

Sing and Celebrate a BFS Milestone |

Sunday, April 22 is the 25th and "farewell" Dinosaurs, Dolphins, and Friends Concert by BFS teacher and alum parent Tony Soll. Sara Soll, Family Center director and alum parent, has executive produced every event. Cumulatively, the concert has raised $36,000 to enrich the lives of BFS students. Read more.

In Celebration of an Iconic Quaker Leader |

The Brooklyn Friends School PAT hosts an Embracing Diversity Conference on Mon, March 12 to celebrate the iconic Quaker civil rights leader, Bayard Rustin (1912-1987). A screening of the film Brother Outsider – The Life of Bayard Rustin will be followed by a panel discussion. RSVP necessary.

A Powerful Lesson on Civic Courage |

What compels an individual to stare down a tank in Tiananmen Square or risk one's life to save others? A social anthropologist and scholar of religion, Professor Brian Palmer of the Class of 1982 came home to BFS to give a powerful lesson on social engagement, responses to suffering, and civic courage.

Middle-Upper School Dance Concert Takes Flight |

Come see our students fly this weekend. Literally! In the largest student-led production at the school, more than 100 BFS students will participate in the March 9 & 10 dance concert honoring two influential women choreographers.

Looking Inward and Reaching Out |

The BFS Quaker Self Study Committee hosts an evening of "Looking Inward and Reaching Out" on Thurs. Feb. 23 that explores the transformative power of a Friends education. Bruce Stewart, a former headmaster of Sidwell Friends in Washington, D.C. is a keynote speaker. Childcare/homework help will be provided.
