Summer Construction Plans Announced |
|
Exciting work is beginning now and continuing into the summer on facilities to support the strategic expansion of Brooklyn Friends School. In addition to new construction of the 4,752 square
feet of space for the Family Center, 8,634 square feet of space in the
375 Pearl Street building will be renovated as soon as classes end in June.

People of Color in Independent Schools - New York (POCIS-NY) and the Independent School Diversity Network (ISDN) will hold a Collaborative Planning Workshop for members in its networks on Monday, May 23, at Brooklyn Friends School. BFS parents, teachers, and administrators are encouraged to attend.

From Brooklyn to Tanzania, and Back Again |

The Care Relationship Committee of Brooklyn Monthly Meeting is hosting an exhibit of artwork by the students of BFS and our sister school, the Kisangura Friends Secondary School in Mugumu, Tanzania. The exhibit will open this Sunday, May 1st, at 12:30 in the Social Hour room of the Meeting House on Schermerhorn Street. Sunday 5/1, 12:30 - 2:00; Monday 5/2, 11:15 - 11:45; Wednesday 5/4, 11:15 - 12:15.

Soccer Technical Training Camp to Be Held in July |
|
Upper School girls and boys will have an opportunity to attend a three day summer intensive in soccer at Camp Louemma in New Jersey from July 17-19. The summer technical training camp will be directed by BFS Varsity Coach & PE Teacher, Gary Lawson and his staff at First Touch Soccer Academy. The camp will focus on fundamental techniques that are required to play the game of soccer, including varying levels of ball manipulation, dealing with pressure when receiving the ball, goalscoring and having the ability to deal with various tactical scenarios. We welcome beginners to intermediates to advanced players as there will be a curriculum to meet all needs.

BFS is pleased to announce a summer Jazz Camp, a 5-day jazz adventure for rising 6th graders through 9th graders. Directed by Jessica Jones, the program will be held June 8-14, 2011 from 10am-3pm at 375 Pearl Street.
