2003 State Champs Back in Action |

|
by Susan Price '86, Director of Alumni
Blue Pride was represented by members of the BFS 2003 State
Championship Basketball Team at the First Annual New York City
Independent School Alumni 3 on 3 Basketball Classic. This first-ever
tournament was graciously hosted by Poly Prep on Sat. Oct. 18, with ten
teams participating.

Our players this year were Chad Levy ’03, Jordan Foster ’03, Edson Elcock ’03, Alap Vora ’03, Ryan Fischer-Werner ’04.
They battled the some of the same NYC schools they had to go through in
playoffs to get to the 2003 State Championship in Buffalo – Poly Prep,
Collegiate, and Horace Mann. The day was filled with hard-fought games,
and outstanding play. BFS made it to the semi-finals, losing to Horace
Mann in a very close game (Horace Mann advanced to the finals against
Poly Prep, which Poly won).
Other than playing basketball, remaining in touch with one another and
with BFS, what are these players doing at this point in their lives?
Ryan Fischer-Werner ’04 just finished his basketball career at Skidmore and is now enjoying his work in field marketing with the NY Knicks.
Jordan Foster ’03 is a production assistant for MTV, working on artist interviews, “Hours are long, but it’s great work.”
Alap Vora ’03 just decided to change career paths. Lately in commercial real estate, Alap plans to travel and start the New Year fresh.
Chad Levy ’03 enjoys working with a major investment group and is considering furthering his education.
Edson Elcock ’03 just finished
his first season with the United Soccer League's Puerto Rico Islanders.
Spending time with his family during the off-season, Edson is also at
BFS coaching girls varsity soccer and boys varsity basketball.
The 2003 Championship Season was the subject of the article “That
Championship Season” which appeared in the 2008 BFS Journal and can be
viewed here. |
