The Search Committee thanks everyone in the community who provided
feedback on our finalists. We received over 200 submissions; many of you took the time to write thoughtful and lengthy comments,
demonstrating yet again both the deep love you feel for the school and
your hopes and dreams for its future. Having listened to all voices
from the community, the Search Committee has begun its discernment. We
are laboring deliberately and with great care, as befits a decision of
such importance for the school. We have been hampered somewhat by
illness and travel commitments, so we
are going to continue our discernment following the Thanksgiving Break
and expect to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees when we
return from the holiday. We wish you all great peace and happiness
wherever your celebrations take you.

Following Michael Nill’s announcement of his retirement, the Board
of Trustees has been hard at work behind the scenes to prepare the
school for a successful search. We will do a nation-wide search for
Michael’s replacement and have selected Clay Stites of Resource Group
175 to assist us. Clay has completed numerous successful head searches
in his 8 years with RG175. He will visit BFS for several days during
the week of May 26th to conduct a series of conversations about our
dreams and hopes for the school and our next Head. We hope many of you
will participate in those conversations. Watch for an announcement in
next week’s e-news with a detailed schedule of events related to the
search and more details on the process and how members of the community
can participate. Click
here to learn more about Clay Stites. Contact the Board by
e-mail.
