What is First-Come, First-Serve?
First-Come, First-Serve is a
program that allows members of the BFS community to say “thank you”
year-round to faculty and staff by donating unused items for free on a
first-come, first-served basis.
How does the program work?
Let’s
say you have theatre tickets but can’t attend at the last minute, or a
gift certificate that’s about to expire. Or perhaps you have plans to go
to your weekend house but can’t because family is visiting from out of
town. You either email
the details of the offer or call Mary Osorio, Assistant to the Head of
School (ext 216). Mary will post your offer on the school’s intranet.
The first BFS faculty or staff member to respond to the post gets the
offer.
Does everyone get a chance to participate?
Yes. To make sure all employees benefit, faculty and staff are eligible to receive only one offer over the course of the year.
What if I need an acknowledgement of my donation for tax purposes?
Simply email Karen Edelman, in the Development Office and she’ll send one to you.
Can I donate more than one item?
Of
course! You can donate as often as you like. No item is too big or too
small. BFS faculty and staff have received everything from tickets to
plays, concerts, and sporting events to summer camp sessions, even an
electric piano—all thanks to the generosity of the BFS community. First-come, First-serve adds a bit of excitement to the school day. Thanks for participating.
