An Era Ends with a Bash, and a Boost

Slideshow The BFS annual gala, held this spring in honor of our departing Head of School, raised $135,000 for The Michael Nill Endowment Fund for Faculty Development, a fitting tribute to Michael's lasting impact on the school.

Commencement Speakers Announced

Nancy Gibbs, Executive Editor of TIME Magazine (pictured), will be the commencement speaker at the BFS graduation to be held on June 9, 2010,  8 pm at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott.  BFS alum Dena Douglas '83, a Brooklyn Civil Court Judge, recipient of the George Fox Distinguished Alumna Award, will also speak at the ceremony.  The two student speakers will be Asha Boston and Andrew Lamb The graduating class selected physics teacher Joe Kremer to be the faculty speaker.

You've Got Mail

A random e-mail message sent to BFS from a teacher in Spain led to an enriching and hi-tech exchange between fourth grade students at BFS and Colegio Virgen del Fresno.

Visual Arts to the Max

Visit the "Invent the Museum" show on May 19-24 or on June 5-6, and the All-School Art Show, May 21-26.

Haiti Up Close: A Teacher's Journey

 Middle-Upper School dance teacher Jesse Phillips-Fein traveled as part of an impromptu relief effort to Haiti in early April.

"A Wonderful Legacy"

The BFS Professional Development Program is enhanced - now and in the future - by the creation of a new endowment fund named in honor of retiring Head of School Dr. Michael Nill.

Invent The Museum

A student-run gallery show presents new ideas about art and exhibition design starting May 19 at 77B Hoyt Street. Final days are June 5 and 6.


Zip-lining through the Rain Forest

A group of 23 eighth graders and three teachers spent a week in Costa Rica zip-lining over the rainforest, watersliding into natural hot springs, touring the capital San Jose, exploring the biodiversity of the Monteverde Cloud Forest, and visiting Tortuero National Park.

During spring break, while a group of eighth graders visited Costa Rica, 35 upper school students and six teachers spent a week in the Kingdom of Morocco in North Africa.
