Among their professional development activities prior to the opening of school, BFS teachers participated in a workshop on commemorating the 9/11 tenth anniversary. While BFS will not be holding any formal recognition of the anniversary, we would like to share the following resources with our community.

For BFS students over age 14 and BFS parents, we recommend viewing a TLC (The Learning Channel) program entitled 9/11: Heroes of the 88th Floor. This two-hour special will show how the bravery of two men in the World Trade Center’s North Tower changed the lives of countless people on 9/11. Through interviews with survivors, archival footage, and recreations, viewers will learn how construction manager Frank De Martini (father of BFS graduates Sabrina '09 and Dominic '11) and construction inspector Pablo Ortiz saved 77 people on the tower’s 88th floor and inspired others to do the same. The program is rated TV-14 (V). It is on TLC on Sept. 9 at 9:00 pm, Sept. 11 at 12:00 am, and Sept. 11 at 1:00 pm.
