Teachers, administrators, and the school's technology and communications staff have been working since the summer months to create parent portals on the BFS website, bringing the inside world of BFS to them with a click of the mouse.

 

As of Oct. 21, every divisional portal is up and running. Each is password-protected and each has its own calendar, weekly announcements specific to each division, and links to items of divisional interest, such as classroom blogs. 

 

The Parent Portal seeks to provide easy, password-protected access to relevant program-related and process-related materials that will address the information and planning needs of current BFS parents. School related choices, decisions, and information forms that require lead time and compliance with deadlines will all be presented online for parents, ideally with the opportunity to complete forms, make the decisions and forward the documents online as well.

 

The user names and passwords for the respective portals were sent to you by e-mail on Sept. 23 and again on Oct. 21. A printed fact sheet with this information is also available at the Front Desks. The portals are google sites, which can sometimes be tricky. If you get a blue sign-in screen with @brooklynfriends.org in the user name, type in the first four letters of the user name ONLY before the @ If you get a white sign-in screen, type in the full user name. ALSO IMPORTANT, If you have a google/gmail account you need to sign out of that account before signing in with the BFS credentials. Do not follow the prompts from google on your sign-in screen; sign out completely and then sign in again. Also, save your sign in and password and bookmark the portal or make it one of your favorites.
