On Wednesday the BFS Girls JV Basketball team defeated UNIS 18-13 on the road. It was a good game for both teams. The game was very close throughout. BFS led 6-2 after one quarter of play. The team took a 10-4 lead into the halftime break. The girls played great third quarter defense only allowing one free throw to be made by UNIS. After three quarters BFS was ahead 12-5. UNIS started to make a come back during the fourth quarter, but BFS's aggressive defense led by Sarah M. and Maret S-M helped them keep their lead and come out victorious. The BFS MS Boys Basketball team traveled to Pace University to take on Rudolph Steiner. The team entered the game on a two game winning streak, looking for number three. Both teams started slow on the large court. BFS was able to get off to the better start and take an 11-4 lead into the half time break. The lead swelled to as much as 13 before Steiner cut the lead to 5. A impressive late run pushed the lead back to 11 for BFS. The game ended with a 27-16 BFS win. The team was led by eighth grader Jackson H. who had 9 pts., 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Seventh graders Charlie S. and Philip C. scored 6 points a piece, while eighth graders Charlie H. scored 4 pts., and Henry J. chipped in 2 points. The team tries to get back to .500 when they take on their next opponent at home on Friday. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Girls JV Basketball team played a great game vs. LFNY. BFS was victorious again. The team got off to a slow start trailing the 1st quarter by a score of Lycee Francais De New York 9 and BFS 7. BFS came on surging the second quarter and ended the first half by taking the lead. At the start of the second half the score was BFS 12 Lycee Francais De New York 11. BFS really came to life during the third quarter by getting to the basket and capitalizing on the fast break. The score at the end of the three quarters was BFS 22 Lycee Francais New York 15. Freshman Julia B. had another great game scoring a game high 22 points. The final score was BFS 30 LFNY 20. |
