Just in time for the Lunar New Year, a magnificent, oversized multi-scaled dragon appeared in the north stairwell between the mezzanine and second floor on Pearl Street. This "awesome, stunning, fantastic, spectacular, gorgeous" work of art (as described by BFS faculty) was an all-school project initiated and carried out by Visual Arts teacher Susan Greenstein. Almost every student from the family center through 12th grade decorated a dragon scale on one side and wrote a wish for something that would make the world a better place on the other. Several 4th graders from 4B -- Lily, Betsy, Kayley, Jack K., Jessie and Isabella -- designed and painted the dragon. Nat, Hannah B. and Cosi from the 7th grade helped hang the dragon. "The art department was extremely supportive when I discussed the idea with them and had many valuable suggestions that helped to shape the project," said Susan. "All the students who created scales did a beautiful job and had very important ideas for ways of improving the world. They also created some incredible designs."
