Friends School was established by the Religious Society of Friends
(Quakers) in 1867. The New York Quarterly Meeting (NYQM) of the
Religious Society of Friends owns the school building, assumes responsibility
for the school’s obligations and employs the faculty and staff.
The membership of NYQM appoints a School Committee to provide
stewardship of Brooklyn Friends School and to operate on behalf
of the NYQM to further the school’s mission.
The School Committee can be reached at their voicemail, 718-852-1029,
ext. 363.
School
Committee sub-committees,
which include School Committee members and co-opted parents,
focus on specific areas of interest for the betterment of the
school.
“The
School Committee plays a behind-the-scenes role, but one
that is absolutely vital to the present and future of our
school. It reviews all decisions and policies in light
of what will help keep the school successful for the next
generation of students and parents. We are especially fortunate
that the members of our School Committee, year in and year
out, give so generously of their time and talents.”
