ADMISSIONS AT BROOKLYN FRIENDS SCHOOL

Brooklyn Friends School admits qualified students who will contribute to an educational community that values academic achievement and social growth. New students are admitted on the basis of previous academic records, personal interviews, testing, and teacher evaluations. Application should be made in the early fall for the following September, though later applications may be considered if vacancies exist.

Children
in the Preschool 3s program and 4s program must be 3 and 4 years old
respectively before October 1 in the year they start school. Family
Center children must be 20 months by the start of school. Kindergarten
and First Grade children must be 5 and 6 years old respectively before
October 1 in the year they start school.
Availability of Places in 2009-10:
Preschool: Places are very limited, and the application deadline of Friday, September 26, 2008 has passed.
Kindergarten:
Oct. 3, 2008 - As of this date, we are no longer able to
schedule interview appointments for kindergarten applicants due to the
high number of applications already received and the limited number of
openings. Any application received after this date will not be
processed unless there is an interview cancellation. In that event,
applicant families will be notified by telephone.
1st Grade: We do not anticipate openings at this time, but this may change as the school year progresses. if you are interested in applying, please send in the application without an application fee.
2nd-4th Grades: Places are limited for these grade levels. We process applications on a rolling basis. The application deadline is December 12th (4 p.m.). Please send in your application with the application fee.
5th Grade: Places are limited. We process applications on a rolling basis. Please send in your application with the application fee. The application deadline is December 12th (4 p.m.).
6th Grade: This is an entry level at BFS, and we add an additional class at this grade level. Please submit an application with the application fee. The application deadline is December 12th (4 p.m.).
7th & 8th Grades: Places are limited. We process applications on a rolling basis. Please send in your application with the application fee. The application deadline is December 12th (4 p.m.).
9th Grade: This is an important entry point for new students. The application deadline is December 12th (4 p.m.). Please send your application with the application fee. Once the application is received, we will call you for an interview. Please send us the Student Supplement before the interview.
10th & 11th Grades: We have a limited number of places at these grade levels. We process applications on a rolling basis. Please send your application with the application fee. The application deadline is December 12th (4 p.m.). If you are considering transferring into 11th grade, please send us the current school transcript before applying.
