Applying to Lower School
Dear Lower School Parents,
Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to learn
about the Brooklyn Friends School community. We also encourage
you to visit the school to
see our program in action. Please see our schedule of admissions
tours, and call the Admissions Office at (718) 852-1029, extension
232, to sign up for a tour.
Please check the deadlines
& updates page for important deadlines and any admissions
announcements during the admissions season.
Our admissions process begins with the student’s family
submitting completed Lower School
application forms,
along with the required application fee, to the Admissions Office.
Upon receipt of the application, we will call to schedule an appointment
for an interview and all-day visit for the student in grades 2
through 4.
See deadlines for application and notification
dates. We appreciate receiving your application as
early as possible to help us process the large volume of applications.
Please note, Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years old, and
1st grade applicants must be 6 years old, before October 1st to
be considered for
admission.
Early notification is available for legacy applicants to
Kindergarten and grade 1 (siblings, and children of BFS alumni/ae,
faculty, staff, and Members of the NY Quarterly Meeting);
see information about legacy admissions.
Brooklyn Friends School has been providing a challenging academic
program to its students since 1867. Guided by the Quaker principles
of truth, simplicity, and peaceful resolution of conflict, our
educational environment values academic achievement, social action
and interaction, and respect for individuals within a community.
If you have any questions about Brooklyn Friends School or the
admissions process, please call us at (718) 852-1029, ext. 232.
I am delighted
with your interest in our school, and I look forward to meeting
you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Knies
Director of Admissions
