Applying to Preschool and Family Center

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your interest in Brooklyn Friends School. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about our programs, and to visit the school to see and hear about the BFS Preschool and Family Center firsthand. Please see our schedule of admissions tours, and call the Preschool Admissions office at (718) 852-1029, ext. 213 to sign up for a tour.

Because the volumn of applications may far exceed the number of openings in certain classes, we sometimes need to close (stop accepting) applications prior to the deadline. Please check the deadlines & updates page weekly for important deadlines and any admissions announcements during the admissions season.

• If you are interested in applying to our Family Center program, please download and print the Family Center application and parent supplement. Complete these forms and mail them to us, together with a copy of your child’s birth certificate and the fee of $110. After we receive the completed application, we will call you to set up a time for you and your child to visit in the classroom.

• To apply for Preschool Twos, Threes, and Fours programs, download and print the Preschool application and parent supplement, and mail these forms to us with a copy of your child’s birth certificate and the fee of $110. The admissions process will include a small group visit for your child and an opportunity for you to share information about your child and family. We will call to schedule a visit for you and your child. If your child is currently in another school, we will request a teacher reference from that school. The admissions process cannot be completed without this reference.

Please note, applicants to the Preschool 3s program and 4s program must be 3 and 4 years old respectively before October 1st. Children entering the Family Center must be 20 months by the start of school. Twos for the Red Room must be 2 by June 30th.

Early notification is available for legacy applicants (siblings, and children of BFS alumni/ae, faculty, staff, and Members of the Religious Society of Friends); see information about legacy admissions.
