Homecoming 2002 Rocks!
It had all the makings of a perfect day; great friends, great food
and great music. Over 100 alumni/ae, faculty/staff and former faculty/staff
gathered for Homecoming 2002 on April 6, 2002. The event began at
the Schermerhorn Meeting House with a touching tribute to the Knies
Family. Jack Ramey, Former Faculty, kicked-off the tribute with
a personalized history of the family. Don Knies compelled us with
his walk down memory lane with many kind works and recollections
of former students. Jennifer Knies made us cry with her emotion-filled
remembrances. Erica Knies ’99 was charming as designated family
photographer. Ken Knies ’96 was unable to join us as he is attending
the University of Sussex in England, but sent his heart-felt best
wishes.
Then it was over to the Pearl Street lower-gym for food, fun and
music. Many alums were thrilled to visit with their favorite former
teacher Martin Norregaard. We even had a sentimental visit from
former Head of School Stuart Smith, who was reunited with his former
assistant Dorothea Andersen. Mechele Plotkin Flaum ’68 introduced
Michael Nill as Head of School, with the opportunity for discussion
regarding the future of BFS. Several alums took this opportunity
to recount what BFS means to them.
Thanks to Jesse Soll ’95, the day’s event culminated in a lively
but friendly alumni/ae basketball game. Players ranged from Norman
Kurland ’62 to Jasmin Singleton ’02. Special thanks to Sidney Bridges,
Dean of the Upper School, for refereeing. Check
out the photos of all of the great players! The Class of ’62
snuck out early for their class party at Gage & Tollner. Photos
of their event will be posted shortly.
