New “Pickup Pass” Policy for September

In order to tighten security at the school, we are now asking all parents and caregivers who come to the school to bring a BFS Pickup Pass (four of which are being mailed to all parents). In keeping with our BFS culture, we have wanted to maintain a friendly and open lobby. However, it is important to ensure that we know at any given time who is in the building apart from the students and staff. The new pickup passes will help in this process. All other visitors who come to the school will be expected to sign in and receive a visitor pass.

At the busiest times of the day (7:45 to 9 am and 2:45 to 3:30 pm) security personnel will now be positioned at a podium by the glass doors to check the BFS passes of parents and caregivers and to ask all other visitors to check in at the front reception desk. At other times of the day, parents and caregivers are to show passes at the reception desk.

Security arrangements for the Afterschool program will remain the same as they were at the end of last year. That is, in order to pickup your child from Afterschool, you will need a pink Pickup Pass, available at the front desk after signing in. This pass is turned into your child’s Afterschool teacher. The parent or caregiver then signs out when exiting from the lobby.

We ask all parents and guardians to abide by these procedures. Although in some ways they can be seen as a personal inconvenience, it is one of those inconveniences necessary to bear in order for everyone to be benefited by the confidence that our children are safe.
