Opportunities for BFS Students and Families
Upper School students: Earn Community Service hours!
CHIPS
- Place: 200 4th Avenue, Brooklyn
- Date: by Wednesday, November
24th and Thursday December 23rd. Best hours to deliver
are from 8 to 10 am or 2 to 4 pm but can be flexible.
- Holiday need: Pies,
stuffing, cranberry sauce, casseroles, apple cider, etc.
- Ongoing
need: Canned goods

Friends Monthly Dinner
- Place: Meeting House, 110 Schermerhorn Street
- Date: Sunday, November 28th, and Sunday,
December 26th
- Staffing needed: Volunteers of all ages needed to: Set
up 1 to 3 pm; Serve 2:30 to 4:30 pm; Clean up 4:30 to 5:30 pm.
- Donations needed: Cooked turkey or turkey Parts (cooked
hams and cooked turkey at Christmas), pumpkin and sweet potato
pies, cranberry sauce and gently-used outerwear, including coats,
jackets, sweaters, and turtlenecks.
Neighborhood Coalition For Shelter
- Place: 237 East 77th Street
(between 2nd and 3rd), Manhattan
- Date: by Wednesday, November
24th and December 23rd
- Holiday need: Fresh salad, fruits, and
apple cider (drop off 11/24 and 12/23 only), canned yams,
cranberry sauce, gravy, cooked turkey and ham. New
socks, underwear and warm shirts are also needed
for homeless adults.

Heights-Hill Senior Center
- Place: Grace Church, 254 Hicks Street,
Brooklyn
- Date: Thursday, November 25th
- Staffing needed: Volunteers
needed to: serve Thanksgiving meal (arrive by 11 am),
or to deliver meals to homebound seniors (arrive
by 10:30 am).
- Donations
needed: Baked pies. Please bring to the church on Tuesday
or Wednesday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm or Thanksgiving
Day before noon.

St. John's Bread and Life Program, Inc.
- Place: 75 Lewis Street
@ Hart, Brooklyn
- Date: Wednesday, November 24th
- Staffing needed: Volunteers
needed to set up, run, and clean up. Volunteers can
1) serve hot chocolate and greet clients as they
wait in line for their meal, 2) distribute utensils,
plates, and napkins, 3) serve delicious hot meals
to the guests, 4) walk around the tables greeting
guests, serve guests water, and clean up tables after
guests leave.

Citymeals On Wheels
- Place: 355 Lexington Avenue, 3rd Floor, Manhattan
- Date: Ongoing weekends
- Staffing needed: Volunteers are needed to
hand-deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound elderly
New Yorkers. Meal recipients look forward to their
meals and meeting new people. Opportunities are available
in select neighborhoods at this time. A car is not
needed. Children, accompanied by an adult, are welcome.
Team projects are available as well.

God’s Love We Deliver
- Place: 166 Avenue of the Americas (Spring & Vandam),
Manhattan
- Date: Thursday, November 25th and Saturday,
December 25th
- Staffing needed: Volunteers in all five
boroughs needed to help deliver meals to clients
(people living with HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses).
This is a great family event. Only about 2 hours
out of your day, morning though the early afternoon.

Jewish Home and Hospital of New York
- Place: 120 West 106th Street
(Amsterdam & Columbus), Manhattan
- Date: Wednesday, December
1st to Saturday, December 25th, between 2 and 5 pm
- Holiday need: Volunteers
needed to visit nursing home, sing songs, be the gift.

Hanson Place Campaign Against Hunger
- Place: 144 St. Felix Street
(Hanson & Lafayette), Brooklyn
- Date: Ongoing Tuesdays
- Staffing
needed: Groups are needed to load-in and stock shelves.
This is a great service project for teen groups.
Younger children (12 and older) can be accommodated
when accompanied by chaperones. Must be able to lift
20 pounds and walk upstairs.
