Get Out and Get Moving with Friends!

Brooklyn Friends School is participating in, and is one of the sponsors of, the 1st Annual Red Hook Road Race and Track & Field Carnival down in Red Hook the weekend of May 18th. There will be a run/walk/jog for youth and adults on Saturday morning, and there will be track events/contests throughout the day on Sunday at the Red Hook Track (corner of Columbia and Bay Streets in Red Hook.

The BFS Track Club, coached by Pete Price, has been training for this event. The Athletic Department is still looking for participants and volunteers. Anyone interested should contact David Gardella, 718-852-1029, ext. 234.

May has been a good month so far for the Panthers! Boys varsity baseball defeated Kew Forest 8-5. The middle school boys defeated Steiner 12-3 and Columbia Prep 9-6. Morgan (8th grade) pitched a complete game, one-hitter vs. Steiner, striking out 10 to get the win. The team is now 5-0 in league play after defeating Trevor Day 8-4, and is headed to the MS Championship Game on Monday 5/21/07 3:30pm @ Randalls Island field #12.

Girls Varsity softball defeated Elisabeth Irwin 15-8. Jenine pitched a season high 12 strike outs and helped her own cause by hitting a triple and a monster three run home run off the wall at Van Voorhees Park (see photo, above). Ellie went 2-3 and scored three runs, Corinne went 2-3 with a double and scored twice, Alex was 1-2 and scored 2 runs, Laura bunted for a hit for the first time and scored two runs, and Ally had a hit and scored with some great base running.
