Changes to Brooklyn Friends Fund This Year

A fantastic academic institution that teaches our children to be exceptional members of the community—that’s why our families choose Brooklyn Friend School! While tuition covers the majority of our expenses, it does not cover the complete cost of a BFS education. Like all independent schools, Brooklyn Friends relies heavily on voluntary giving to bridge this financial gap.

Every year, we ask our families, alums and friends to participate in our annual giving campaign, The Brooklyn Friends Fund. Your gift to the Brooklyn Friends Fund supports key operational areas of the school that makes Brooklyn Friends a unique learning experience.

We have implemented some changes which give you as the donor, more freedom to designate your gifts as you so choose. Introduced this year, the “Family of Funds” allows you to direct your gift in such a way that will have a direct impact on the area of need closest to your heart.

• By directing your gift towards Faculty Salaries, you will be supporting the many teachers who inspire our children to reach their full potential now and in the future.

• By directing your gift towards Financial Aid, you will be supporting and maintaining the socio-economic diversity of Brooklyn Friends School.

• By directing your gift towards our Educational Programs, you will be supporting key elements of a Brooklyn Friends education—from paints in the preschool, to textbooks in the Upper School.

• If you would like your gift to go Wherever the Need is Greatest, just let us know. We’ll be happy to allocate your gift accordingly.

Many of you have seen the historical articles in our newsletter, on our website and the displays in our lobby about the rich history of Brooklyn Friends School.

2007 marks the 140th year since the school was established, as well as the 100th year since the Upper School was established. To celebrate this commemorative year, 10% of every gift to the Brooklyn Friends Fund this year will go towards strengthening our endowment.
