A Decisive
Win at Keyspan Park
The BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Packer
6-1 at Keyspan Park on Friday, May 2, to pick up their 7th win in
a row. The team now has an impressive 9-3 overall record. Senior
John Cunningham pitched six solid innings giving up no earned runs
and striking out the first seven batters he faced in the first two
innings. He finished with 12 strikeouts on the afternoon, and has
become the new BFS season strikeout record holder, currently with
56 total, with games still remaining. He surpassed BFS Alum Josh
Miller (51 strikeouts in a season), who was in attendance in a great
seat right behind homeplate, as well as the record of 53
strikeouts set in 2006 by his teammate
and friend, senior Artyom Milius. For
this game, Milius came in to hold it down in the 7th inning and to
secure the victory! Once again this is a very special team! Congratulations
to Coach Johnny Cusato and the Panthers, and many thanks to all who
came to see the game and cheer the team to victory.
