Put your shopping dollars to work for BFS by participating in the BFS SHOP & EARN program and the BFS SCRIP program. The PAT has partnered with Schoolpop and ScripAdvantage (organizations that help not-for-profit institutions raise money); our goal is to raise $15,000 to upgrade and refurbish our science labs and to create an exploratory science lab for the lower school.

Here’s how the programs work:

SHOP & EARN

Anyone who shops online should sign up for the Shop & Earn Program. Schoolpop partners with hundreds of online merchants that contribute a percentage of proceeds to schools or non-profits. You won’t need to purchase anything you wouldn’t normally buy. Just do your everyday shopping and you’ll benefit BFS. The first step is to register your credit and ATM/debit cards on Schoolpop’s secure website. Then every time you shop online with participating merchants, 2% to 18% of your purchases will go to BFS. There is no extra cost to you. Important: You must begin your online shopping from the Schoolpop website for your purchases to benefit BFS.

Register your credit and debit cards now.

Schoolpop VISA Card

If you want the flexibility of shopping in stores, with catalogs, or online, please register for a Schoolpop VISA card. BFS will get a $20 bonus on your first purchase and 1% of every purchase you make thereafter. This is the easiest way to support the school. Anytime you use the card, anywhere you use it, BFS will earn money.

And for a limited time only, we have a chance to earn a $1000 bonus for BFS. If 20 people sign up for and activate cards between now and December 2005, we’ll get that $1000 bonus, plus a $20 signing fee for each new card registered.

SCRIP Program

Don’t like to shop with credit cards? Then sign up for our Scrip program. “Scrip” is simply another name for gift certificates or prepaid gift cards. ScripAdvantage and Schoolpop purchase bulk quantities of scrip from retailers at a discount. They pass on that discount to BFS, and we sell the scrip at face value. The difference between the discount and face value—from 2% to 10% or more—is our revenue. All you have to do is shop with gift certificates instead of cash. The potential earnings, just for buying items you need from day to day, are enormous.

How much money do we stand to raise? Let’s say the typical family spends $200 a week on groceries, gas, and miscellaneous purchases. With an average 5% discount, we would earn $10 on this family’s purchases. Multiply that times 52 weeks and we’d earn $520 per family per year. If 10 families participate, we’ll earn $5,200. If 20 families participate, we’ll earn $10,400, and so on. Our goal is to raise $15,000. With your help, we can do it.

Want to get your feet wet? Try using scrip for all your grocery purchases. If you’ve become a convert to FreshDirect, order prepaid Visa cards through BFS and use those cards when you proceed to checkout on line. Are you a devotee of Starbucks? Get a Starbucks card and indulge yourself knowing that you’re supporting BFS with every sip of that mocha latte. Are you in the midst of a home repair project that has you frequenting the aisles of Home Depot or Lowe’s? Order gift cards from BFS for these and other establishments, and we’ll raise the money we need in no time.

Download the scrip program registration form, scrip order form, and a list of participating merchants. Or you can pick up these forms at the front desk or in the business office.

Once you’ve registered and your credit card information is on file in the business office, you can order scrip using this online form, or download the order form and submit it to the business office.

UPDATE! See how much money we’ve earned from these programs since their inauguration in September 2004.

Thanks for your support!
