Using the
Naviance Family Connection
To access BFS’s Naviance Family Connection website for college
planning, go to:
http://connection.naviance.com/brooklynfriends
Each student will be assigned his or her own personal, password-protected
account. At your initial visit to the Naviance site, you can personalize
your password. You will have the ability to see individualized displays
of your personal academic information and test scores. You can receive
email reminders about deadlines, Seminar assignments, and events
such as college representative visits. You’ll be able to research
colleges and start a list of potential schools you’d like
to learn more about.
Once in the system, you’ll find a column of options at the
left side of your screen.
Under About
College, we think you may find these interesting:
College Search—Here you can conduct your
own customized searches. Remember, the more criteria you list, the
fewer matches you’ll get.
College Look Up—Links to a basic profile
of the college, including a link to its homepage on the web. Enter
part of the college’s name, and then double click the blue
hyper-link which appears on the next screen. (If you type “Whit” for
example, you’ll get a list showing Whittier, Whitman and Whitworth,
among others.)
College Compare—Here you can pick two
or more colleges and Naviance will produce a table of data based
on recent BFS applicants to the college you selected. Remember,
every applicant is different—do not think that this data predicts your future!
Scattergrams—These charts show how recent
BFS students have fared when applying to specific colleges.
Visit Schedule—This link offers an up
to date calendar of college representative visits to BFS. We are
always adding more, so check back often.
In
the About Me section, you’ll find your personal
information, which can be updated at any time throughout the college
application process:
My Profile—Lists personal information,
address, phone, email, parents’ information, test scores,
etc. Check for accuracy.
My Checklist—Allows you to select areas
of interest and list your talents and accomplishments.
My Colleges—My Colleges helps you develop
your list of prospective colleges. This list can be modified at
any time as you add and subtract schools.
If at any time you forget your password, you can enter via the
Guest Entrance window. Our guest password is “friend.”
Have fun exploring!
