Summer Arts at Brooklyn Friends School offers a diverse and exciting art experience taught by working and exhibiting artists from the New York City area. The instructors of the Summer Arts Program are selected for their artistic and professional accomplishments, as well as their experience working with children. Under the care and guidance of our staff, children explore their creativity and artistic abilities through an enriched interdisciplinary program. In addition to participating in all classes offered in each session, students enrolled in Summer Arts go on field trips to the city’s many world-class arts and cultural institutions. The field trips include outings to major museums, special exhibitions and to the art studios of professional artists. Students have recreational swimming two times a week and they play in two fully equipped gyms and on the rooftop playground at Brooklyn Friends School. There is ample time for free play and organized games throughout the program.

What Parents Have to Say

“The Summer Arts classes were very sophisticated and the teachers/ instructors were phenomenally good. There were amazing trips to artists and museums, including MoMA and the Met, and even a visit with David Byrne of Talking Heads. The program director is a blizzard of energy, enthusiasm, and relates very well with the kids. The program was pure bliss for my daughter who is very artistic but a bit timid and reserved. The small class size really helped her and the care and attention of the program director and teachers made all the difference. I highly recommend this program.”
